Mormon spinsters, the growing epidemic
How many fresh starts do we get in one lifetime? I feel like i've had a fair share but I hope to never run out because I know I'm going to need them. A college junior at 26 (although i still pass for 20) studying art and spanish, with dreams of grad school, I'm not your typical mormon girl. A returned missionary and still single (gasp, there must be something wrong with her!), life as a mormon spinster can be a rough one, but it's not without it's perks...I have about a million bridesmaids dresses and who doesn't love those? But being fresh off yet another winner relationship (where they wanted to keep me but didn't realize it until they put me out with the other charitable donations) I have turned a leaf and am at peace with the whole dating scene. Usually at this point in the post break up ritual i would bring on the new meat and flaunt it in front of the ex (we all know why) but I have no desire to even bother. All i really want to do is pass my classes and enjoy all my extra circulars is that lame? Maybe, but so is water ballet and people enjoy that too. Although, i did meet a rather intriguing man type tonight. He strolled into the movie theater at my apt complex while i was watching a movie with some friends and as i was the third wheel to my engaged friends ,not an unfamiliar situation, he sat down next to me and moved closer and closer to me on the couch as we chatted during the movie. Sadly that ever inching closer ended after my friend asked what year i had graduated and i had to reveal my best kept secret and watch his eyes widen in surprise. Oh how funny to be considered old at mid 20's. And so i bid that cute man type goodbye and giggled to my self as he rode away on his bike. Each day I wake up and have to laugh at where life has brought me and how my days go by in this soon to be frozen tundra called Rexburg Idaho (barely october and it has already snowed) But it's all parte de vida y me gusta
